Utrecht University Museum
Human body parts on strong water, stuffed animals and skeletons offer you a glimpse into the world of science. In this museum, kids can explore for themselves. Discover where the nose of a dolphin sits and explore strange animals.
At the Utrecht University Museum you will discover the scientist within you. There are several exhibitions, each with its own theme. In the exhibition Tot op het bot (To the bone), you go out and investigate for yourself. Listen to the heart of a giant turtle or human, feel an elephant skin and watch a dog with a hernia in the operating room. Even more exciting is petting a shark!
Get to work in the Youth Lab like a real professor! The experiments are about seeing, smelling, tasting, hearing and feeling
As soon as you enter the cabinet of curiosities, you are immediately immersed in a colourful collection of rare objects. Take a look at a skeleton of a hippopotamus or the Pareiasaurus: a herbivore that lived 265 million years ago! In the cupboards and showcases are stuffed exotic birds.
One of the most special objects in the museum is the 3MV particle accelerator. The 3MV put the Utrecht nuclear physics research on the map. In addition, the particle accelerator has been used for other research areas such as solar cell research.
