Admire the art of the future in the Stedelijk Museum
View iconic works of art by Piet Mondriaan, Karel Appel and other modern masters at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The collection is huge and consists of more than 90,000 (!) works of art. For children there is a lab full of fun activities.
On the Museumplein, the art heart of Amsterdam, you will find the Stedelijk Museum. The Stedelijk is iconic: it is a walhalla for admirers of modern and contemporary art and design. There are permanent and changing exhibitions with works by artists such as Piet Mondriaan, Gerrit Rietveld, Yves Klein, Roy Lichtenstein and other dynamic artists.
Urban Base
As unique as the art on display is, as unique is the museum itself. The permanent exhibition Stedelijk Base is a playful quest through the many highlights of art and design, from 1880 to the present day. In Stedelijk Base you will also go through the rich history of the museum. Here's something sweet: in the permanent display alone, a total of almost 700 works can be seen. Tip: use the free audio tour for extra floors.
For children and families
For families and children there is always something fun to do at the Stedelijk. There are creative workshops, family tours and there is a lab where children can make their own creations. At exhibitions, children's books are often published, which are for sale in the museum shop. Visitors up to the age of eighteen have free admission to the museum, which is great for a family outing.
